So just in case ya were confused: bees aren’t actually spontaneously generated from cow carcasses. I know, I know, it might SEEM like they are – I mean, who ’mongst us HASN’T taken a look at a dead bovid & thought to themselves, “Clearly, bees!” – but as it turns out, nah!
In point of fact, female bees come from eggs laid by queens & fertilized by drones. (Male bees come from unfertilized eggs, natch.) Pretty standard stuff. But how do ya get a queen? Simple! The female worker bees who’re in charge of feedin bee larvae make sure to give the li’l queen plenty of what substance that’s got special proteins in it to help the larva grow into a full-fledged honest-to-goodness queen bee?
Some humans’ll also take this stuff ’cause I guess they think it’s got anti-inflammatory properties or that it might help with menopause symptoms, I dunno. I mean, it might?? But I ain’t a doctor! Don’t take your dietary advice from a trivia newsletter, I guess is all I’m sayin.
